Penis Cancer 

Penile cancer is a malignancy of the penis. 

CAUSE 
Suspected cause is smegma (cheese-like-smelling liquid, which is located under the skin of the glans penis). But the exact cause is unknown. 

Uncircumcised men are not keeping the area under the skin of the glans penis and the man who had been suffering from genital herpes have a higher risk of penile cancer. 

SYMPTOMS 
Symptoms include: 
- Injury to the penis 
- Open sores on the penis 
- Pain and bleeding from the penis penis (at an advanced stage). 

Diagnosis 
Diagnosis is based on symptoms and physical examination. 
Sores on the penis that looks like a pimple or a wart. 

A biopsy is done to confirm the diagnosis. 

TREATMENT 
Treatment of penile cancer varies, tergandung to the location and severity of tumors: Chemotherapy 
# Chemotherapy can be done in addition to removal of the tumor. 
# Surgery 
If the tumor is confined to a small area at the tip of the penis, do penektomi partial (removal of most small penis). 
For advanced stage was accompanied uretrostomi penektomi total (making a new hole in the urethra perineum). 
# Radiation therapy 
Radiation therapy after removal of localized tumors and tumors that have not spread. 
Side effects of radiation therapy are decreased appetite, fatigue, skin reactions (eg irritation and redness), injury or burns to the rectum, cystitis and hematuria. 
Irradiation is usually performed 5 times / week for 6-8 weeks..
